English texts of recent date. My greatest effort is to present a sketch of the general area of general human psychology as coherently and systematically as possible, detailing only when they are necessary for a general survey. In a field which, in a state of chaos, is in great and increasing danger of becoming disorganized, even for the trained expert, this method of introduction is absolutely necessary. I have tried to show that the data of psychology cannot at present be definitively described in terms of theories that are more or less philosophical, and that attempts to separate data from theories are based on the non-conformity of pieces of theories. Critical acceptance will result.
